We focus on two exceptional varietals that have found their home here, namely Chenin blanc and Cinsault

We source grapes from different growers across the Swartland who share our commitment to quality, meticulously farming each vine to ensure the grapes reach their peak potential.

Our love affair with Chenin blanc begins with its powerful heritage

It's not just a grape in South Africa; it's a survivor. Believed to be one of the first cuttings to arrive at the Cape in 1655, Chenin blanc - then known as "Steen" - has been a workhorse and a staple for centuries. In the Swartland, it found a true home. For a long time, its high-yielding nature meant it was relegated to bulk production, but the gnarled, low-yielding bush vines of the Swartland told a different story. They held a secret - a concentration of flavour and a unique vibrancy born from decades of struggle in our warm, dry climate.

Taste authentic, pure Swartland

We are dedicated to showcasing this history, working with old-vine Chenin blanc, often planted on our region's distinctive granite soils. These ancient vineyards, with their deep roots, give our white wines an amazing energy, freshness, and a texture that speaks of the very earth it comes from. Every bottle is a tribute to the endurance of these old vines and a celebration of a grape that is finally being recognized for the treasure it truly is.

The Storied Past & Vibrant Future of Cinsault

Cinsault's history in the Cape is equally compelling. Once the most widely planted red grape in the country, it was the foundation of many classic Cape reds. Its journey is a testament to the cycles of winemaking: from being a celebrated blending component in the mid-20th century to falling out of favour for "more fashionable" international varieties. But in the Swartland, this heritage never truly faded.

We cherish these vineyards for the elegance and subtlety they offer

The old bush vines of Cinsault, often dry-farmed and scattered across diverse soil types, persevered. The grapes yield a wine that is light on its feet yet incredibly expressive, with a delicate perfume and a floral lift that is simply beautiful. We love Cinsault for its great structure and its ability to capture a sense of place without being heavy or overbearing. It’s a grape that respects tradition while offering a completely modern and captivating drinking experience.
